The Chunch of Neutral Heat is a handy name for a new fact-based religion. It is akin to the Brights, but it takes a difference linguistic approach. Rather than assert that religion is based on faith and ignorance, it will call itself a religion for as long as required, eat all other religions and then remind everybody to play nice anyway.
To construct the religion, start with the two extremes of distance regime: quantum mechanics and cosmology. Learn everything that there is to know about that. Zoom back to our millimeters-to-miles human scale. Drain your viewpoint of all hate, sentimality and nostalgia. Take the point of view of a Martian and observe the world around you as if you were an archeologist studying the ruins of human civilization (which can look like our present-day world, if you wish) and then re-evaluate your assumptions about how you should use your limited lifetime. That exercise should help to get you to the viewpoint fo the Long Now Foundation. Study engineering and science and especially the implications of Thermodynamics. Ensure yourself that you understand the physical constants c,G and h (or h-bar) and the coordinate system about a physical "theory of everything" akin to the pseudocube
